What’s the difference between a cancellation fee and a non-attendance fee?

Set fair penalties for late cancellations or no-shows — and protect your business from lost revenue.

Why Use This Feature?

Life happens, but empty spaces hurt your business. LegitFit gives you the tools to charge clients for late cancellations or missed sessions. These fees help you recoup costs and encourage clients to commit to their bookings, all while giving you control over how and when they’re applied.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to LegitFit via desktop.
  2. Go to Settings > System Settings
  3. Scroll to the Cancellation Fees & Non-Attendance Fees section.
  4. You have two options:
    • Cancellation Fee – charged when a client cancels too late (within your set cancellation window).
    • Non-Attendance Fee – charged when a client misses a session entirely without cancelling.
  5. Set the fee amount for each.
  6. Choose the duration ahead of the session that the fee becomes valid. i.e. Choose “1 Hour” and a client will not be able to cancel their booking less than 1 hour before the session starts without paying this fee.
  7. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page

Cancellation Fees

What Happens Next

When these settings are on, LegitFit will automatically apply the fee to a client’s account if they cancel late or don’t show up.

Note: Some businesses prefer to apply non-attendance fees manually after reviewing attendance records rather than having it charge automatically.

Success Tip

Keep fees reasonable. They’re there to encourage reliability, not punish. Make sure your cancellation and no-show policies are clear in your Terms and Conditions so clients know what to expect.
