How do recurring programmes and progressive overload work?
Automate programme repetition and progression over time.
Why Use This Feature?
Recurring programmes allow you to schedule the same programme to repeat automatically on selected days.
Progressive overload builds on this by adjusting reps or weight each time the programme repeats, based on rules you set.
Together, they reduce manual updates while giving clients a clear, consistent path to progress.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Open LegitFit in a web browser.
-
Recurring programmes and progressive overload are web-only features.
-
-
Go to Timetable → Programmes.
-
Create a new programme or open an existing one.
-
Toggle Repeat Programme on.
-
This enables recurring scheduling and progressive overload options.
-
-
Choose the repeat pattern:
-
Select the days of the week (e.g. Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
-
Choose an end date for the programme
-
The system will generate all programme instances within that date range
-
-
Add exercises to the programme as normal.
-
Set up progressive overload for an exercise:
-
Enter reps or KG for a set
-
Click Progressive Overload beside the value
-
Choose whether the value should increase or decrease
-
Define the increment (e.g. +1 rep, +1 kg)
-
Set a maximum limit the progression cannot exceed
-
-
Repeat this for any exercises where progression is required.
-
Click Create Programme to save.
How Progressive Overload Works
Progressive overload only applies to recurring programmes.
Each time the programme repeats, the system adjusts the selected value according to the rules you set.
For example:
-
A set programmed at 10 reps with +1 rep per repeat and a max of 25
-
The next programme instance shows 11 reps
-
Progression continues until the maximum is reached
Once the maximum is hit, no further increases are applied.
What Happens Next
After saving, all future programme instances are created automatically.
Clients receive each repeated programme with the updated reps or weights applied.
You do not need to manually edit individual programme instances.
Clients cannot edit progression values themselves.
Success Tip
If you do not see the progressive overload option, check that Repeat Programme is enabled.
Progressive overload will not appear on one-off programmes.
